It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children.

Job
Summary:
Performs reception, clerical, and general secretarial functions
Responsibilities:
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
Schedules and verifies insurance coverage for all patients entering programs.
Obtain pre-authorization as needed.
Performs registration functions of all new and recurring patients Enters patient charge data into computer and performs charge audit.
Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients.
Ascertains the nature of their business; assists and/or directs visitors and patients to various locations when appropriate.
Establishes and maintains files and records on an ongoing basis.
Prepares medical record chart requests.
Maintains adequate supply of department clerical/clinical supplies.
Input and follow-up with equipment and facility repairs/requests.
Participates in educational and in-service meetings.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs all other related duties assigned.
Qualifications Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/technical training beyond high school.
Experience:
6 months but less than one year of job related experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PP, etc.
).
Medical terminology.
